Our flight was fine except for the idiot united airlines gateperson who refused to let a woman who had just had a stroke pre-board...
Oh and except that united LOST one out of our four bags (Linda and Robert's). It turns out Linda's Spanish language skills come in very handy -- we've filed a report and we're hoping to get it returned to us today so they have swimsuits and clothes to change into.
Now, vamos a la playa...

Leaving Las Vegas

Nathan discovers crayons
Dinner tonight was at Bouchon, a french restaurant in the Venetian that is smart enough to know their audience... and supplied ketchup with their fries if requested (but we didn't ask for it, of course) and crayons for the kiddies.Nathan delighted in banging the red crayon (apparently he didn't like the blue, green, or yellow ones) onto the paper tablecloth, and eventually learned to make lines.
His work is now on display in the Venetian's special art gallery exhibit, exclusively featuring works from 16 month old boys named Nathan.

Welcome to Las Vegas!
After a great time in the airplane, where he stayed amazingly "sage" and entertained, Nathan couldn't help but fall asleep in the cab line.
Little nap that lasted until we got to our room at the Venetian.

At the Venetian
Alex and Nathan accompanied me on my trip to Las Vegas for the Microsoft Management Summit. After a long plane trip and short nap during check-in, Nathan was hungry and ready to experience Vegas, Baby!! This picture was taken in the indoor replica of the canals and shops in Venice. Kitschy, but fun!

Nathan discovers the candy store vending machines!
We walked past these candy machines quickly every time we went to the grocery and Nathan never noticed them. Until now. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted!

Potty News!
After slowly introducing the potty for almost a week, Nathan sucessfully went potty... on the potty after lunch today. Big milestone!

iBoon
First there was the iPod. Then the iPhone. Now, Nathan brings you the iBoon (and iBoonoh)!
"Ok, baby!"
"Ok, baby!"

"Sporty" Nathan
With his new Converse sneakers and a "save the animals" baseball cap, Nathan is quite the sporty fella...

Yo-baby!
Nathan has a yogurt ("ya-ooosh," for those playing along at home) that is called "yo, baby."
I think that the name is pretty funny, and had a little fun with it the first time I saw him eating it. Our game sort of stuck, and so my main man Nathan loves to chill with his friends kick it old school by proclaiming (or whispering, as in this video) "Yo, baby."

Nathan (although still a little afraid) begins to get acquainted with Oooo wah
In order to help distract Nathan long enough to do his nails, Alex had me bring Roomba ("Ooo wah") into the room. The rug needed a good vacuum, anyway.

Nathan at the Discovery Museum
Nathan had a lot of fun at the Bay Area Discovery Museum in Sausalito with Alex and I.
Nathan eats like a horse...
I’m not sure what got into Nathan today, but he was HUNGRY. About every two hours he would start to get a little cranky and proclaim, “nummy nummy,” letting us know he was hungry. Once fed he was happy, happy!

Jury duty
So I was called in for jury duty on Thursday, and luckily I avoided being placed on a 2-month trial. However, out of one frying pan and into the fire I went... I was part of the pool for a 2-week criminal trial involving (er... I can't tell you that) which required I come back in today for a second round of selection.
Now, I don't mind doing my part for our judicial system, showing up and basically wasting two days of "productive work time." However, I do think it's a little obnoxious that in order to have the priveledge of wasting my time inside the jury selection room I must also waste my time in an enormous line to get through security.

Luckily, I wasn't selected for the trial and life will go back to normal, tomorrow.
