Jack's 2nd Birthday Party

Nathan was invited to his friend Jack's second birthday party up in Mill Valley.

It was right after Nathan's swim class at 3, and he didn't take a nap earlier in the day so on the drive up he fell asleep in the back seat.

Once we got there, I hung out with Nathan in the car for a good half-an-hour while he took a snooze, but at 4P we had to wake him up to go party-party-party.

Upon waking up I said, "don't you want to go inside to the party."

"No party," he said, in a tired and sort of aggravated ("why'd you wake me up!") tone...

"There will be cake and ice cream," I continued.

He looked at me and said, in a very small voice completely devoid of enthusiasm, "yay.... a party."

If you're happy and your know it...

Nathan the cool dude

Histoire Papa

Watching Nathan figure out the logic behind who reads what with whom is pretty cool.

For those who don't recognize the book title, he wants one of the many "T'choupi" books that he has... but I'm not very good at reading them so Alex usually handles those.

It's comfortable

Google... in there

Nathan associates the "Yo Baby" logo with the Google logo.

He likes them both so much that he made up a song.

Google is everywhere. Even in there.

Down Low... too slow!

Nathan and I like to do high-fives. Sometimes, I'll tell him to give me one "down low," and then pull my hand away and say... "too slow!"

Original? No. But it always gets a laugh.

Oh my gosh

Pre-Halloween Party at Julius Kahn Park

For Sidney's first halloween and Nathan's second, we participated to the Golden Gate Mothers Group Halloween Party.

There was a puppet show, multiple jumpy houses (for kids of all sizes), face painters, balloon twisters and a DJ with jazzytunes. All the littles ones were dressed up in their costumes -- it was too cute.

The cutest (and warmest) was Nathan the Fire Chief, and the cutest and sleepiest was Sidney the iPoop.

October in San Francisco

For the past week, we've had temperatures around 25 degrees celsius, so today after playing in the puddle of water at the Koret Playground, Nathan was stripped down to his diaper. That's October in San Francisco!

Sleep... finally

Sidney woke up only once last night at 3:00 am and was able to sleep a 5 hour stretch... Youpi!

Winnie ... pooh?

Nathan thought it would be a good idea to stuff his Winnie the Pooh bear into his potty.

"Il fait po po gwinnie la pooh."

I tried to get a picture but I wasn't quick enough...

My birthday

Today was my birthday, and it was a doozy.  Besides lots of phone calls, emails, and "facebook" posts from friends and family, Nathan and Alex sang me "Happy Birthday" and after the kids were both asleep I had a lovely dinner (thanks Alex) and then played with my new Wii (thanks, Alex!!!!)!

At work there were two birthdays... and Elmer (turned 30) and I (gasp.... 37) shared a "Princess" birthday cupcake cake.  I took the pink princes, since it matched my shirt and the bubblegum I had in my mouth when they brought the cake out.

Sidney's bath

Sidney loves bathing however he has outgrown the bathroom sink, so for next bath we'll have to upgrade to the "big" baby tub.

Fantastic Friday

Nathan, Ana, Sidney and I attended Crissy Field's Fantastic Fridays for toddlers. Today's topic was "Things with Wings".

Nathan was more interested in running around than hearing about birdlife. The only view I could get of Nathan is of his backside as he was running.

When asked to act like the mama bird feeding her birdies (me), Nathan would get the popcorn (bird food), run towards me and as he would reach me, quickly shove the popcorn in his mouth. His birdies wouldn't last long, would they?

Blue Chaussettes

Nathan has a passion for his "blue" chaussettes -- they are actually red -- to a point that whenever he sees them in his drawer he wants to wear them to matter what time of day it is. Today, he spotted them when we took out his PJ from the drawer and insisted on wearing them. See for yourself...

Another day at the BADM

This time, Nathan, Sidney, Ana and I spent our time at the "river" playing with the poissons and grenouilles.

Commissioned Graffiti

On our way back from the pool today, Nathan and I came across what looked like a commissioned graffiti wall in the works at Farmers Market on the corner of Irving and 6th-ish. We stayed and watched (and listened to the loud music they had on) for a few minutes until I saw the "plans" that they had looked extremely uninteresting (lots of text).

Maybe it will say "farmers market" or "organic fruit" or something rad like that g. booyah.

I'll take another picture next time I pass by and let you judge for yourself.

Wave room at the Bay Area Discovery Museum

Every time we go to the Discovery Museum we find something new to see. Today, it was the wave room, where Nathan had really a lot of fun practicing "fishing".

Joanne's home made quilt

Sidney loves hanging out on this colorful homemade quilt!

Break Fast at the H.

As per the now yearly tradition, we broke fast at Deborah's parents, which gave Nathan an opportunity for chasing Amber (their dog) around and touching everything he could get his hands on.

Then, it was time for music...

Sidney just enjoyed being in the sling... Mamie was with us, but Papie unfortunately fellt too sick to come and had preferred staying home.

Sidney et ses p'tits moutons

Finally caught on video... Sidney loves his mobile with les petits moutons. Whenever, we turm it on and the moutons start turning, Sidney gets a big smile on his face and even starts laughing.

Gwinnie la pooh, tomber...

Nathan loves Winnie the Pooh. He has been watching an episode where Winnie the Pooh falls out of a tree, and apparently it sort of stresses Nathan out to see him fall like that.

Last night at around 1A Nathan woke up crying, so I went in to see him. He was explaining to me that "Gwinnie the Pooh tomber" (tomber = to fall). I told him that he was allright, and that he was not hurt when he fell.

After a few minutes he calmed down and was able to get back to sleep.

Munshine?

When we put Nathan to sleep at night, we'll frequently sing a few lullabies to him (more for us, than for him).

One that he likes is "You are my sunshine." Lately, with a biiiig grin on his face, as he's settling in to his big blanket and snuggling into his teddy bears, he'll ask us for "munshine."

Synchronized sleeping

La bouteille

Nathan loves the bath. One of his favorite toys at bath time is a plastic orange juice container which he continually fills up and dumps out. Over and over again.

Every once in a while, I'll grab the bottle and speak into it... "Nathan, I am your father" (channeling the similar quote from Star Wars). Not to be outdone, Nathan will grab the bottle and try to repeat it back to me.

Tonight at dinner, Nathan had the bottle with him. He picked it up and put it to his mouth, uttering "Nathan, take a shower..."

Fait un prout

Everybody poops. Apparently Nathan now understands that a prout (fart) is not a poop, but that everybody prouts as well. Now when he does, he says "je fait un prout."

Elevator Call Buttons

Nathan is now officially tall enough to touch the elevator call button at UCSF.

Blue Grass Festival

Sam, Nathan and Aunt Betsy met with Steve and Lila in Golden Gate Park for the Blue Grass Festival while the moms and Sidney were at the Fairmont Hotel having tea for Monica's baby shower.

Nathan made sure to introduce himself to all his neighbors at the concert and danced a storm with Aunt Betsy and Nounou.

Sidney aka "Hugh Hefner"

Hi Docteur!

Two days after Sidney's appointment, we had to go back to Dr. S. for Nathan's 21-month check up. After a morning at the Zoo with Ana (and no nap!), I thought it may be a good idea to bring Nathan's toy medical case with us so that the Docteur wouldn't be that intimidating!

Well, it worked very well. For the first time Nathan let Dr. S. examine him without fussing or crying, They even played together: Nathan would give Dr. S. his toy blood pressure cuff and say "Thank you" -- meaning "please put it on me!" (He would not let me put it on him... Well, I'm not a Docteur!).

Dr. S. admitted being very impressed with how cooperative and alert Nathan was. When Dr. S. was done with his examination, I explained to Nathan that he was going to get 3 piqures (shots) which will hurt a bit but that he would be ok. When the nurses came in to give him his immunizations, I took him on my lap and squeezed him tight. As they gave the shots, Nathan made des grimaces but did not cry. Once gone, he kept looking at the little bandaids repeating: "That's OK. Bobo there but that's OK". I was stunned and proud... I kept hugging him for a while.
